Limestone is the stone Central Texas is built on. It is on the front of most homes in the area and in most of the walls and patios behind them. This guide covers the limestone we stock at our Leander yard. It explains which form fits which project and how to order for pickup or delivery in Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, and Liberty Hill.
Why Limestone Is the Central Texas Default
Limestone is a dense sedimentary rock that quarries well into blocks and slabs. The Hill Country sits on it. That makes it local and plentiful. It matches the masonry on most homes in the area and it holds up to our heat and hard rains.
We carry it in four forms. Chopped stone builds walls, raised beds, and borders. Sawn slabs and patio stone make patios and paths. Boulders anchor beds and creek edges. Crushed limestone goes under all of it as base and drainage. The form matters more than the color. Most projects use two of the four.

Oklahoma Chopped and Chopped Sansaba Sandstone are on the same page as our chopped limestone. Both are sandstone. Oklahoma has a distinctive layered texture. Sansaba is natural sandstone from the Texas Hill Country. They are sold and used the same way as chopped limestone.
Chopped Stone for Walls, Raised Beds, and Borders
Chopped stone is building stone cut into rough, blocky pieces with a hand-split face. It is the classic material for stacked retaining walls, raised beds, seat walls, veneer, and the rugged stone borders you see across Hill Country yards. It can be dry-stacked or mortared.
We carry four chopped limestones. Charcoal and Buff Lueders is the classic Texas look and the one that matches most homes in the area. White Limestone is the bright option for clean, crisp borders. Nicotine runs warm with rich earthy character. Texas Mix is a curated blend of Texas native stones for walls with more variation.
Sizes run 4" x 4", 6" x 4", and 8" x 4" across all four. White Limestone and Nicotine also come in 6" x 6". Smaller pieces build a wall with more courses and more lines. Larger pieces build a bolder wall in fewer courses. Mixing sizes in one wall gives the random-course look on most custom homes.

Sawn Slabs and Limestone Patio Stone
Sawn limestone is cut with a blade instead of split. The faces are flat and the edges are square. That is the look for patios, walkways, and outdoor living areas with a clean, finished surface.
Our limestone slabs come in two thicknesses. The 1¼" Regular slab is natural Austin limestone for patios, paths, and outdoor living. The 2¼" Regular slab is the thicker version for heavy-duty surfaces. The 2¼" Honed slab has a smooth face and a refined, contemporary finish. The Lueders Slab in charcoal and buff comes in a 2' x 4' format at 1¼" or 2¼" thick. Slabs are sold by the piece or pallet.
Austin Limestone Patio is our limestone patio stone. It is local Texas limestone with natural buff tones at 2" thick. Like all of our patio stone, it works for both mortared and dry-set installs. It is sold by the ton or pallet.
For a dry-set patio or path, set the stone on a compacted base. Our Decomposed Granite 1/4" Minus and Limestone Road Base 1¾" Minus are both sold for compacted base.
Limestone Boulders
We stock two limestone boulders. Fieldstone boulders have a natural weathered surface and are made for rustic landscape accents. Honeycomb boulders have a textured, pitted surface and work as focal points. Both come in various sizes and are sold by the ton. Crushed Limestone and Road Base
Crushed limestone is the working side of the material. It is sold in bulk by the cubic yard or by the bag on our gravel and river rock page.

Delivery and Pickup
Pick up at 600 N Bagdad Rd in Leander, or we deliver to Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Liberty Hill, and the surrounding area. Palletized chopped stone, slabs, and boulders go out by flatbed. Crushed limestone and road base go out by dump truck. We only deliver on driveways.
